Should Penyffordd Ratepayers subsidise drinking clubs

I am indebted to the attack dog who last night added interest to a quiet evening. I wonder whether the person was an ex wine circle member on the wrong medication or on too much sherry? We recently had someone leave and then tell anyone who would listen that we had closed down! lol

And to those who will listen Penyffordd Wine Circle is mainly food and social orientated. No one is sloshing bottles of wine down their necks. It's a mid week meeting and there's work next day.

Note: Each year Penyffordd Community Council are given money by FCC to distribute amongst social, sport and other groups within the village. This is law as laid down by WAG ,FCC or Westminster.

Anyway to the issue.

A few months ago Tom Jones and Colin Bithell abused their positions as councillors to recommend that Penyffordd Wine Circle receive no grant money now and in the future. No reason given, such is their arrogance. All the other councillors sat around the table saying nothing. ( cronies and lemons )

Apart from Cllr Jones and Bithell abusing their positions as cllrs  the subject requires serious debate.

1. Should grant money be awarded to such groups as the temperance related Red Lion Strollers Football Club or the Penyffordd Council Clerk's favourite watering hole Pontblyddyn Cricket Club.

If councillors object to the Wine Circle receiving money I object to other drink related groups receiving money.

2. It also raises the issue of Penyffordd Community Councillors awarding grant money to groups they and their mates have a vested interest in. It's against councillor code in my opinion.

And for those who are going to get hot under the collar. It's your mates Colin and Tom who started this ! Blame them.

    Well it needs airing. It happened, they're not embarrassed at all. I think it a job for the Big O.
    ( The Welsh Ombudsmen).

    We don't need to upset them too much though.
    Chester rd needs Tom's help.
    With Tom Jones having had a list of memberships of public bodies as long as your arm one could say the chance of success very slim. It's ok taking outsiders such as Klaus, Alison Halford and Patrick Heesom to the Big O but quite another matter for an establishment figure.

      How much money does the County council give to the community Council to distribute?
      Answer:- None!
      Get your facts right!
      Every penny given to local groups is out of the 100% local Council Tax

    Sadly Tom Jones is well connected and the Ombudsman would not touch it with a barge pole. I am afraid this is what we are up against. If Tom Jones was going to help Chester Rd, he would have done it long before now. All he cares about is power. Only one way to deal with that kind of man, don't give him your vote, he can whistle for mine!

      Cllr Bithell and Cllr Tom Jones and the other Members have raised their concerns to the County Council and the Police;-as a result speed checks have been carried out and rumble strips have been laid plus the 30 sign moved to assist enforcement.

      Surely a football club and cricket club are nothing like a drinking club? I would not expect the ratepayers of the village to subsidise my drinking habit or Happy Jolly!!
      I think you ought to see somebody about your obsession with Chester road, Cllr Tom Jones and Cllr Bithell? You really do have the knives out for them!
      Have you told any of us what your plans are for the village should you be elected yet? NO!
      How do you think Chester rd is going to be resolved??
      You talk such rubbish and are misleading people by getting many facts wrong!
      I think this blog could be of use to the village but not the way you are managing it! I enjoyed the refreshing change Re: Newts!!

      Chester Rd issue is on the books to be resolved. Either Cindy Hinds or David Williams have made it happen.

      I started this blog 5 years ago because cllrs took no notice. Hopefully if it is sorted. We can all move on.

    Think it has been your methods?? You really could help the village by using this tool well? Not the way you are currently? It has not been pleasant looking at some of the articles you have written. Surely this has not been the way to go about things? Maybe a little factual research would help?
    Cindy and David actually get paid to do the job? Cindy is fantastic and cares about the village a great deal. Stop the insults and sarcasm and I am sure you could achieve more.

      Penyffordd Community Council have approached NWP, FCC solicitors, arranged secret meetings to try to shut me up because they would NOT look at the traffic situation in Chester Rd which was 2000 cars breaking 30 mph in 2007.
      FCC hold the data.

      If Colin Bithell and Tom Jones had listened there would be no need. They decided otherwise. It's because of them we have no doctors, few sports facilities.
      No grant money.

      They won't have an email for the community council, won't publish council meetings online.

      Tom and Colin need to be outed for the control freaks they are.

      You try having the county council with unlimited resources breathing down your neck.

      Tom Jones and Colin Bithell have both abused their positions as councillors. FACT.

      Too old, geriatric, decrepit and an OBE !
