We're all mates together except Cindy who is Labour.....
If one looks at who nominated who for community councillor a certain pattern appears.
Here's a run down of former councillors nominating each other. Which I may add is not against the law.
Tom Bell - Tom Jones and Stan Davies
Edwina Davies - Linda Vidamour and Colin Bithell
Stan Davies - Linda Vidamour and Tom Jones
David Williams - Clive Weed plus AN Other
Linda Vidamour - Edwina Davies plus A N Other
Clive Weed is Chairmain of the Institute Committee on which Tom Jones and Colin Bithell stand.
Colin and Tom blocked grants to a society to which I belong which has used the Institute for 25 years. A complaint to Clive gets no where as you would expect.
There is a malaise in the village. It comes from having a group of councillors run by one man with a very limited vision. The system needs changing. I have written to Carl Sargeant AM Local Government Minister pointing out the short comings of Welsh so called local democracy.

A note to Colin Everett ( Returns Officer). If there's anything you or the lawyers don't like on here send me an email with relevant arguments for its removal. I'm not responding to phone calls as I don't record them.

Are you talking about a man who has served this village excellantly for most of his life? I am sure if you asked the opinion of many villagers they would all hold this person with great regard. I feel you are very disrespectful in the way you put your feelings across. Are any other people looking to put themselves forward to help the village???
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment. Yes it would be fair to say Tom does a lot of work for the village. My problem with Tom is it's all on his terms. Tom came into my consciousness after I wrote a little polite letter to the community council about speeding through Chester Rd. Back came the reply "that speeding was nothing to do with the council". Tom is a Penyffordd Junior School governor. Chester Rd is a major route to school for the above school. There were over 2000 vehicles a day speeding through Chester Rd. This is not a guestimate. FCC highways hold the data. Your last point about people putting themselves forward is an excellent point and will be dealt with as a subject in its own right.
DeleteI think a lot would say he has done a lot in the village but surely at his age he should step down gracefully. There are also a lot of people in the village who would agree with that!
DeleteWhy should he? He has plenty to offer and is very wise! I know many people who he has helped immeasurably over the last few years! He is interested in all areas of the village and has worked hard to make the village what it is today!! Its about time you stopped this vicious campaign!
DeleteFamily Affair indeed--how terrible--ten of them are going to be elected--what a shame! One of them nominated by his wife/partner--who would have believed it?
ReplyDeletepoor Ralph caught up in all this by association.
Your teacher could mark your work--could do better if he tried a little harder when he grows up
The article is to point out that there is not enough diversity within Penyffordd Community Council.
DeleteI'm sure Ralph can live with whatever you're inferring.
When I grow up?
Does it grate that someone is prepared to stand up for the community they live in?
There's at least one child nearly got killed these last three years. If you think Chester Rd should be a rat run fair enough. I live here I don't.
Poor Ralph,
DeleteWhat a nice man, ever so popular, how on earth was he coerced into nominating Colin Hughes a man with a two track outlook for Penyffordd! he is oblivious to the needs of Dobshill and the Warren let alone Penymynydd. If he is so obsessed with Chester Road, why not move elsewhere, it would be better for his health!!
Does he realise his persistant complaining is lowering the value of all the properties in that location? He might not wish to sell but others might some day!
Colin you have been so bold as to forecast the outcome of the County Council Election in Penyffordd.
DeleteI will make a forecast for your result and it is thus:- You will poll less than you had last time, and the reason being that you have chosen to abuse two respected and greatly loved Cllrs in Cllr Colin Bithell and Cllr Tom Jones.
We wait for the "Silent Majority to speak on the 3rd of May!
Yes I think you may be correct.
DeleteI really think the job done by all of our community councillors is excellent! It is a difficult job, that I wouldn't want to do. In all the time I have lived in the village (over 40 years!) I have nothing but good service and they put the community at the heart of what they do. If they are doing such a bad job, why is Penyffordd such a sought after place to live??
ReplyDeleteIf they are doing such a bad job, why is Penyffordd such a sought after place to live??

Thank you for the comment.
Because its surrounded by countryside at the moment. It's near Chester and Airbus.
Have you ever sat in on a Community Countil Meeting? You may change your mind if you had.
DeleteIf councillors have done such an excellent job, why do I have to take my children to Buckley to the Doctors when we had a perfectly suitable one in the village which was allowed to close. Why, until very recently was there no games area for my boy to play in, we have one now but that is mainly due to Cindy and PACA, and why did TJ and CB vote to accept the new housing without the agreement for Section 106? Only David and Cindy are pushing for this agreement for more areas for our youth. Facilities have all been slowly arroded over time. This can only be down to some older councillors not fighting our corner.
DeleteHow long did you say you had lived here, I have lived here for nearly 40 years and I can recall at least four play areas if you include Dobshill and that's since I was a child!!!
DeleteHaving read your comments over the last few months and discussed them with a few friends (who have no interest in you)we have all come to the same conclusion that it is dreadful that you feel the need to pull apart good, respecatable peoples reputations!
ReplyDeleteThe main councillor you refer to is very much on the level, is approachable and extremely knowledgeable about current affairs.
I am a parent who lives in the village and agree with about speed limits being maintained but surely you must agree this is a matter for the police to control and not the community council? I personally have been trying to encourage the speed limits are maintained, however I have chosen to do so in the correct manner.
I personally find you extremely vindictive and I am sure Cllr Tom Jones family will be deeply saddened and offended by the way you discus him on this blog!
I think its high time you showed some respect and and apologise for your behaviour!
It is a matter for the police to control speed limits BUT it is the responsiblity of councillors to put forward residents concerns to the police and apply pressure to them to do their job in maintaining speed limits. To me and other people who have previously made comments on here, certain councillors including the one mentioned need to be more concerned about the village environment. At the end of the day it's mine and others children who are most at risk and it's for councillors to show they have done everything they can to prevent any possible accidents.
Delete"Have you ever sat in on a Community Countil Meeting? You may change your mind if you had."
ReplyDelete--------------------------------------------------
Yes I sat in the Penyffordd Community Council meeting where the last two items on the agenda were to be heard in secret.
Their substance was what to do about me rather than what I was protesting about. ie poor Chester Rd environment due to too much traffic including HGV that was unpoliced.
I think it's called shooting the messenger.
