I think this applies to Penyffordd as well. Tom Jones' sheet has destroyed our democracy.
The result being a village without healthcare, used as a large short cut to the A55 Warren Bank by HGV and a 1000 cars a day. Little grant money from the WAG. Poor resources for youth.
Perhaps David Williams and his gang will give us a bit more democracy.
Tom Jones will be looking for a majority of 6. He requires all his nominees to get elected to have a majority on the council. There are 10 places. You do NOT need to vote for a maximum of 10.
I've made the point to Colin Everett the Returning Officer that I consider Tom Jones and his group should stand as the " Tom Jones Independents". Our electors then know where they stand.
I have argued that they are a closed group.

Earlier in this blog's life - it seemed it was to report and notify of local goings on.
ReplyDeleteOf late it seems to be a "ranting" blog, with strong opinions being vented. As such the reflection of the "Penyffordd and District" is that the village is actually venting these views, and everyone there shares these views.
The then and now of this blog are a world apart, and the latter part of the posst only work to give the Penyffordd community as a whole a very bad reputation.
Please use the blog, to inform and notify, and create a separate one for your very strong opinions, which doesn't have a direct reflection on the village and the surrounding area - as it stands the blog posts of late are simply an inappropriate reflection of this brilliant community - politics aside!
You raise important points. This blog was started by me because Penyffordd Cllrs would not listen to concerns over Chester Rd environment.
ReplyDeleteElections come once every 4 years. They are important to some people in the village.
After May 3rd the blog will once again return to what is going on in the village.
Once a month there will be a report on what is going on with regards Penyffordd Community Council.
7 days to go.
I have been following Colin's Blog for about 2 years. He keeps us informed not just on Penyffordd news but with Council matters in general. Colin can always sniff out a good story and he does provide useful links and great photos.
ReplyDeleteA good deal of what he writes now is in a different vein. It obviously comes from frustration at the situation he finds himself in. It is not easy to break into an established circle, especially where there are some very strong personalities.
I must say he does stand by what he believes in, maybe his methods are not always ones I would choose, but Colin says it as it is, he does not suck up and try to be popular. There are things he feels very strongly about and let's rememeber that we all have a moan about things, but Colin will actually get on to County Hall or WAG he is never afraid to put his head above the parapet, well aware the he will get all the flack.
I don't think his blog reflects badly on the village as a whole. It is a personal blog, his posts and his opinions. Colin does not speak for everyone. we are free to read it or not as the case maybe. I must say it has been a lot more entertaining than some of the miserable election literature that has come through my door! At the end of the day we have to make up our own minds on May 3rd.
Is he paying you??
ReplyDeleteNo Claire he isn't. I just like to keep an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story. It's very easy to paint Colin as the villain here. There are others with far more devious agendas, standing quietly on the sidelines looking saintly, getting their cronies to fire the bulletts for them, but then you would know about that wouldn't you 'Claire'.
ReplyDeleteI think you are getting paid
ReplyDeletewhatever.
ReplyDeleteI'm not getting paid either lol but I think Colin speaks him mind and has no hidden agendas unlike some!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence.
ReplyDeleteThe issues I present are important to the electorate.
1. Good communication with the Community Council is essential for residents
2. The Community Council publishing minutes and agendas for residents to easily see online. ( I can do it free for them on a separate site of their own, free technical back up.)
3. Are we getting all grants available from the WAG and FCC?
I think not.
4. Youth facilities are way behind other communities.
5. A55 Warren Bank was allowed to happen with no proper objection from cllrs. Warren Bank affects Penyffordd
This forum is open to anyone who wishes to raise issues in the village. It's not just "my blog". Anyone can have their say or advertise any event or item free of charge.
