Still some way to go

Five miles away and maybe 500 ft higher. Anywhere south of Penyfford needs to be treated with caution when driving. Roads narrow to less than two car widths without warning.

White Lion Development

I am receiving comments to the effect that trees are being cut down in the reserved wild life area and that the wild life area is smaller than that agreed in planning.

Is this correct?

Tom Lawrence scores first goal for Wales Under 21s in Moldova win

The former Penyffordd Junior and Castell Alun High school student has been on the books of runaway Premier League leaders United since he was eight and was part of their FA Youth Cup winning squad in 2011.

Full story in The Flintshire Chronicle.

Wrexham Football Club need volunteers tomorrow

Wrexham Football Club is appealing for volunteers to help ground staff clear the Racecourse pitch of an estimated 11cm (4.3ins) snow from 08:00 GMT on Friday.

A statement on the club's website said volunteers should bring a spade with them "while any additional wheelbarrows will also come in very handy".

A Bad Year for Polytunnels

The white snow is where the polytunnel lies. A metal frame !

This one may pop up to something like its original shape as the hoops are plastic water pipe.

Still Best Not Go Out

Penymynydd Rd, Penyffordd end

There are people out in cars who have no idea. There is single file on whatever road you care to take.
For example one old buffer refusing to move or to try to accommodate other vehicles, expecting everyone else to get out of the way by reversing etc.

Lowlands are fine. ie Saltney, Chester.

Best not go out

The full chaos at the bottom of the page

Wood Lane Hawarden, cars abandoned nearly impassable
Lorry jack knifed Dobshill
Chester Rd Penyffordd , one car every 5 mins instead 15 a minute
The gritter has done Chester Rd, only single file traffic though

Vehicle accident at Penymynydd.

A55 open single file to Chester, you just have to get to it.

Wifey's car couldn't get out the drive.
Against my better judgement I've dug her out.
She is on her way to try to get to Chester.

Update 9.46 am

Known route to Chester from Penyffordd
Middle of the village, Corwen Rd, Penyffordd By Pass to Dobshill

Chester Rd Traffic Calming News

The contract firm are outside with plans. Kerb stone altering to start shortly. ( I asked )

Cllr David Williams sent me an email last week about the new Penyffordd Community website which I duly advertised on here and will put up a permanent banner shortly.

I in return asked David when Chester Rd traffic calming was starting.

As half  expected no reply.

Your behaviour David unacceptable as a village representative.
You may think you are being smart and clever but people with any intelligence see right  through you.

As a school teacher you have to deal with children but fail to
separate your actions and thinking when dealing with adults.

You lost a lot of votes last election. Some of which may be put down to electorate sentiment.
Many voters however saw your short comings.

Time to up your game and behave in a proper manner as a representative of  Penyffordd?

Why is the new Penyffordd Council website in Latin?

One commenter has asked the above question.
He wonders whether meetings are held in Latin.

Thanks to another commenter who informs that Latin is used as a filler until content is available. ie minutes, agendas, community group details, etc.

Competition Time: Can anyone spot the cannabis leaf?

Cllr Colin Bithell for Hawarden Airport Expansion

in The Leader

There will be plenty  more like Colin who wish to turn our environment into a crap hole.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regional Airport Searches

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/8977992/Local-airports-to-double-their-capacity-in-next-40-years.html

"A spokesman for the Campaign to Protect Rural England added: “It is not just that airport expansion of this scale would trample over villages and sprawl across Green Belts. All the extra flight paths needed would criss-cross the countryside so much that by 2050, trying to find tranquillity in much of the English countryside could become as hard as looking for a needle in a haystack.”

Penyffordd Public Relations are non existent

I might be in the Leader today or maybe tomorrow lol. If local media are looking for a quote I am usually available.

But what about about Penyffordd Cllrs? Are they quite happy for Penyffordd to be at the end of the runway for RyanAir or Easyjet?

Penyffordd Community Council are never up for a quote (can't be contacted and don't want to be)  except for Cllr Colin Bithell bashing Hanson Cement.

Time for Penyffordd Community Council to enter the 21st century?

Perhaps we have to wait for dinosaur Cllr Tom Jones (aged 86 and a half ) to stand down.

Media cooperation is a two way street when done properly rather than just ignored.

-----------------------------------------------

It should be mentioned that the Welsh Assembly Government are keen for Hawarden Airport development.

Why not have an airport down the coast at Llandudno or Anglesey, Carl?
It's a lot more central and no where near here.

You could even give it a Welsh name instead of an English one.

Penyffordd Community Council Website

is now up and running at http://www.penyfforddareacc.com

The site is still in its developmental stage and I'm sure Penyfforrd Community Council will welcome your feedback and constructive suggestions.

Council agenda and minutes will be published regularly.

This will be a welcome move towards local government transparency and democracy.

Penyffordd Cllrs who have pushed for this development are to be congratulated.

Penyffordd Airport

in The Daily Post.

" North Wales Conservative AM Mark Isherwood has backed the idea of a north-south air route between Hawarden and Cardiff."

Quite good for Mark travelling to Cardiff on AM work. Not so good for us if planes fly over Penyffordd.

How long until Ryan Air or Easyjet pay an interest?

POSTSCRIPT : I'm going to be in the paper over this. I think local communities are sleepwalking into a major environmental disaster. Hawarden, Kinnerton, Penyffordd, etc.

If nothing else it will knock tens of thousands off their house prices if this project takes off. The airport project has had previous incarnations. This time I think things may be different. There is major pressure on the likes of Manchester. Regional airports will expand to take the strain.
