A Letter to The Evening Leader with regards to Safety Threat in Northop Hall Village

In your article Cllr Tony Sharps states that Northop Hall has become a rat run. This is very familiar to other villages in Flintshire. Penyffordd also has its daily rat run. The drivers have no care for our village environment what so ever. It is time for Flintshire County Council to draw up a Traffic Calming Strategy using the WAG's "Manual for Streets" that includes Compulsory 20 mph speed limits for route to schools, the exclusion of short cut traffic and HGV's. We have by-passes for through traffic. Commuters should be made to use them.

Penyffordd is currently being set up to take a 22% increase in houses with Flintshire UDP yet Flintshire Highways are currently deaf to 2000 speeders through Chester Rd daily.

May I point out that we communities in Flintshire do not want bolt on over sized estates and rat runs. We would prefer to stay as proportioned peaceful villages.
Flintshire County Council needs a "joined up strategy" for our threatened communities. Cllr Aldridge's suggestion of a new town to take up Flintshire's UDP housing requirement continues to look very attractive to Flintshire communities with overburdened houses and roads.

This madness needs to be stopped before chaos ensues.
