Airbus' Notice to their Workers

TWB78/07 - Road Safety
By Paul McKinlay / Source: Human Resources

The company have received a number of complaints over the last few weeks regarding motorists who have been witnessed disregarding speed limits in local villages. These complaints have been sent to Airbus UK as they allege that the problem is more prevalent around our various shift start and finish times, and that many of the offenders are Airbus employees.

Whilst the company obviously have no jurisdiction over employees driving to and from work, and in fact there is no clear evidence to support these claims, safety is of paramount importance, and therefore we would politely ask all our employees to respect speed limits whilst driving in the local area. Many of you are residents in these areas, and recognise these limits are in place for safety reasons.

Health and safety is of paramount importance to us all at Airbus, and examples of our efforts in the area of road safety have been to work in partnership with the authorities to offer advanced driving courses for our apprentice population, and working to improve cycle paths and road access. As our site and facilities develop, we continue to work to ensure a harmonious and positive relationship with the local community.

Your support with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
