Currently we have about 50 20 ton lorry trips a day through Chester Rd.
That's on top of normal lorry traffic. We are also a major training route for HGV Lorry Schools which are legion.
We have a bypass that has been especially constructed for heavy through traffic.
Why are through HGV traffic not banned from the village?
Well Tom, why do you think its ok?
Part of the general community council sclerosis?
Lorries are an anathema to village environment, unwanted noise and danger. They also bugger up the roads, grids and drains.
postscript: For those who dont know Cllr Tom Jones is political leader of the village. He must be 87 years old.
He shouldn't have been allowed to have carried on this long. He was paid off from being a county cllr a 100 years ago.
I also think Tom is an honorary member of the Traffic Haulage Association.

On second thoughts it may be 30 hgv lorries a day on the current contract
ReplyDeleteAnon said "there are a number of tipper lorries racing around village maybe we cane change the village name to death race 2000 what do u think tom?
ReplyDeleteFurther: Penyffordd main roads were always going to have issues with the new A55 links at Broughton. Penyffordd Council new this. We were always doomed to be a natural short cut The problem is you have to go a lot further than just writing letters to county council.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, as I leave for work at about 7.45 am every morning there are two big lorries in particular that speed through to Broughton - absolute menace.
ReplyDeleteCome on community council - shame on you...get out of your lethargy and start to serve your community!
Many thanks for your feedback. As a village with a bypass none of this should be happening. The forces against banning HGV's are FCC and NWP. They are usually loath to put in such restrictions. It requires pressure through the media if they will not cooperate. There should be a line of protest signs up and down Chester Rd saying HGV's OUT!
DeleteHad one of the lorries follow me up the Vounog Hill on Weds. I was doing the speed limit up the hill which clearly upset him - hooted me when I turned off!.. Colin, any idea why the sudden increase in these clowns? Seems like the number has doubled in the last week. Not impressed!
ReplyDeleteYes Its about time these cowboys were brought to book. Question is do they do contract work for the Welsh Assembly Government or FCC. If so leverage is available. I am under the impression there is dumping facilities under license at Llay or there abouts.
DeleteLlay would make sense. From the dumper truck designs, I think the sudden increase is all from the same company. Next time I see one (no doubt on my back bumper) I'll get the details... Tim
DeleteHi Tim Thanks for that. I have thought about following one ! lol I seem to remember a landfill site at Llay / Gwersyllt leaking toxic content into the River Alyn. If so the contract would be Wrexham Borough Council / Welsh Assembly Government funded. The lorry firm are named Jones.
DeleteI will take a photo
I think I will enquire with WBC
ReplyDeleteWe have a farm gate on our land which is on a laybye on the a5104 mold road we had lorries parked across our gate faeces thrown onto our land. As they park up for the night. We used to have a no stopping sign and it has disappeared. We asked the council were has it gone and they haven't reply. There seem to be an increase in these lorries. They also dump cement dust as there sweeping there lorries out. Lisa
ReplyDeleteWe have already told the council number plates, company, time and even the drivers personal name plate, when they dumped tarmac dust , if you want to know what those piles of black powder are up and down the A5104. Action taken by council a reply email and no further word. Mean while the drivers are still stopping over night having a good s**t in the morning and then throwing it over the hedge on to our land we have to take CARE where we put our FOOT as we walk around.
ReplyDeleteYou have two county cllrs. I presume you are in Penyffordd Ward. They are Cindy Hinds and David Williams. If you want their email addresses ask. They are your representatives. If the lorry drivers are doing subcontract work for Hanson Cement this offers a source of leverage. Go though your elected representatives. If nothing is done The Leader and Chronicle love this sort of stuff
