Romans to march through Penyffordd?

Given that Penyffordd never existed at the time of the Roman conquest of the British Isles this would be quite a feat. However if Paul Harston's vision sees the light of day Penyffordd may yet see Roman soldiers marching through the streets.

All is revealed in The Flintshire Chronicle.

  1. As long as they don`t use Chester Road eh! We all know how noisy those Centurions can be.

  2. I can put up with the occasional legion.......
One question puzzles me. How much traffic is using Chester Rd. We appear to have periods of constant traffic. In 2007 it was just over 3000 vehicles a day.
Any self respecting council would wish to know how much traffic is passing through a village.

Our council seem deliberately blind to such issues.

  3. High time those dinosaurs on the Council dragged themselves into the real world, they can't be totally blind to the volume of traffic on Chester Rd,get out there and do a count. It's not rocket science, even Tom Jones could grasp that.
It will be worse once the White Lion developments gets under way.
Cllr. David needs to get his brain in gear if he expects votes in May!

    1. Traffic is between IMHO 3 and 4000 vehicles per day. I am also of the opinion that over 30% of traffic is through short cut traffic non village. White Lion and to a larger extent Wood Lane farm will add traffic to the middle of the village of over a 1000 a day in my opinion.

Cllr Tom Jones I would say has very little interest on short cut traffic through the village whether it be HGV or otherwise. The only thing that will get Tom into gear is possible failure at the next local election.

What is required is to get the good people of Penyffordd to see the issues.

Chester Rd is down for traffic calming. We are 5th in line. Whether these are false pre election promises is difficult to ascertain.

  4. I agree Colin, if Cllr. Tom Jones has even a vague notion that he will not be re elected, then just maybe he will get his brain in gear. I really hope you do get traffic calming through the village it is badly needed.
I agree there are going to be a lot of false promises tossed in the ring with an election on the horizon.

  5. Whilst Tom's knowledge of things council is extensive. His aspirations for the village in my opinion are very low. He has been quite happy for us all to go to Buckley or Broughton for health treatment. For sports we all go to Padeswood, Hope, Pontblyddyn or Buckley. Hence the dissatisfaction on the village and the need for someone like Cllr David Williams.

  6. Absolutely right Colin. Cllr. Tom Jones is in some kind of time warp. He wants everything to remain the same as it was in the dark ages because he's frightened of change, it might mean that he loses his grip and good thing too.
We need progress, Penyffordd should have more amenities available and I only hope that Cllr. David Williams does step up to the plate.
