Cllr Arnold Woolley- Flintshire Council Leader - Friend of Chester Rd

The commentator in the previous post reminds me that it is time I should pay homage to our council leader. This will not go down well with Labour or our crony councillors but the facts are these.

1. Cllr Woolley has paid attention to what has been happening in Chester Rd.

2. I have had the pleasure of his company at 7.45am on a weekday morning with his wife Paula doing speed checks on Chester Rd. A councillor from another ward paying attention to the daily abuse of Chester Rd by the hoards of traffic.
Yes unbelievable.

3. I have received regular emails encouraging me to continue to stick up for Chester Rd.

4. Lisa my wife and I have been to Shire Hall to his office to try and extract FOI traffic data  requests from Highways. He spent an hour with us even though he must have 101 other things to do on any working day.

5. Chester Rd has made it to the qualifying list for traffic calming. It is hoped this will become a reality

A55 Warren bank exits which affect Chester Rd daily was a Labour led WAG exercise planned with a Labour led Flintshire County Council whilst Cllrs Tom Jones ( Independent) sat on his hands.

Who says political groups can't work together !

I hope Chester Rd gets the justice it deserves.

Cllr David Williams one of our county councillors was last time I looked a member of Cllr Arnold Woolley's Independent group on Flintshire County Council

postscript.

In April 2007 Chester Rd had over 2000 vehicles breaking the 30 mph speed limit daily. No Penyffordd cllr has shown any interest in this data which is held by Flintshire County Council.

  1. Cllr. Woolley has been excellent as a Leader, having done a very difficult job with this coalition Council. He is a fair man who will give his time readily and there are those of us who are absolutely disgusted with the way this decent man is maligned on Cllr. Halford's blog.
I note that he does not retaliate, preferring to keep a quiet dignity.

It is not uncommon for Cllr.s from other wards to step in when people need help. Even Tony-no HGV's in Northop Hall-Sharps gave his support to the Travellers site problem in Magazine Lane.
No doubt Cllr. Halford was too busy stirring her cauldron.

Justice for Chester Rd by all means, those Penyffordd Cllr's. are a uselesss shower, not one of them has yet learned to think outside the box all too afrraid of Uncle Tom me thinks!

  2. Thank you for your continued valued comments. Yes Tom has over stayed his welcome. As previously mentioned David stood because of Tom's schlerotic strangle hold on the village.

Will Cllr Tom Jones realise the game is up?
Time to step aside whilst in the lead?

Are there enough new people in the village who will vote to sweep Tom's dictatorship aside?

  3. No problem Colin. I admire a man who sticks to his principles, you have nothing to gain i.e.votes. You are obviously someone who cares about the village, safety and the environment.
Quite frankly who wants to listen to traffic thundering through the village?

I don't know if there are enough new people in the village to vote the old fogey out. But, I do know that situations like this-well sewn up as they are-don't go on forever. Nothing is written in stone. Something will happen, there will be a catalyst and Tom's house of cards will come falling down around his ears. Then it will be interesting to see which way the rats run.

  4. Yes your first paragraph required reading by our councillors.

There appear to be three tribes in the village. The Labour tribe, the Tom Jones tribe and the newly formed Red Lion tribe (DW)

The Red Lion Tribe are in the ascendent in my opinion. Tom Jones has his 85 years age going against him. His man Colin Bithell has been seriously ill. I think Colin should not stand again. It will be for sure injurious to his health. Does he really want all his short comings put before the village. He can count on me raising the issues. No quarter will be given he has failed Chester Rd and the village.

Perhaps Tom will ask Cllr Linda Vidamour to stand. A competent cllr handicapped by her patronage to Tom. Again she can expect the same abrasive publicity that Colin will get should she stand instead of him.
