We have idiot contract farm workers hammering through the village on tractors with trailers at the moment.
One gent didn't see the reason why he should slow down through the village.
On cocaine and bonus?
Being made to use the bypass might slow them down.
Can you have a word Tom?
I mean ask the farmer to ask them to slow down. Banning through traffic a bridge too far.

Penyffordd IT News
Microsoft keep offering me a free upgrade to Windows 10. I used to be (edit) very keen for new operating systems, or for that matter any software I could get my hands on.
Times change.
I have a computer network system it works, we even still have an XP machine running. In fact I'm going to set up an old machine with XP so I can run one of my favourite softwares that became redundant with Windows 7.
The computers do what is required so I think I will give Win 10 a pass the problems faced by commenters below well past my technical ability.
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/askjack/2015/aug/27/microsoft-windows-10-free-upgrade-revisited-questions-answered
I use computers as white goods these days, gone hopefully are days messing around under the bonnet with just one machine connected to the internet.

Capricorn Animal Rescue Update
The other day I was hearing malicious rumour that Sheila and son had done a runner. Not sure where this sort of rubbish spouts from.
Here was the original story.
http://penyffordd-district.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/capricorn-animal-rescue-trouble-at-mill.html
I've been to Capricorn with a cat injured wood pigeon this morning.
Spoke to Sheila, just about everything is in hand and under control.
Possible criminal proceedings to follow.

Street Lights
This is an issue that comes up regularly at Penyffordd Community Council meetings.
Flintshire County Council is looking to save money.
http://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/151912/40-streets-in-flint-may-have-lights-turned-out.aspx
You don't see many people around at 3 in the morning I can tell you first hand.
If we have burglars taking advantage of diminished lighting perhaps they can be locked up on first offence for treble time in our brand new shiny Wrexham Prison.
As opposed to letting us collectively getting robbed a 100 times before the judiciary take prison action.
Coming shortly in a village near you: The villagers paying out of their own pockets for replacement lighting or no lighting.

Parking Wars
Half our terrace row has double yellow lines, the other half has room for three cars before the detached houses.
Room is required for 6 cars.
So what you do, you park at the back but 6 foot forward of the double yellows so it makes it difficult for the other two to get in and keep drive access open.
Funny people neighbours.
I'm not involved by the way.

Penyffordd village centre in 1869
One wonders if there was running water for houses in 1869? Perhaps not. Two wells are shown on the map. Also a public house called the Royal Oak, somewhere not far from our butchers.

Have you been looking for or committing adultery?
This Ashley Madison hacked website is a bit of a mystery to me. Never heard of it till last week. Perhaps I move in the wrong circles or need to get out a bit more often.
Here's the Wrexham data which includes Wrexham areas and the percentage of Ashley Madison members in each area.
http://www.wrexham.com/news/who-in-wrexham-used-hacked-secret-affairs-site-98850.html
Just going to check if there's a list for Penyffordd.......................................
That was easy. There appears to be 16 members from Penyffordd. I presume Penyffordd, Buckley and not Penyffordd, Gronant.
Wonder if there's any great and the good of Penyffordd, perhaps a Penyffordd councillor? lol
http://www.deeside.com/deeside/news/how-many-people-from-flintshire-had-their-data-stolen-in-the-ashley-madison-website-hack-quite-a-few/
You can put your post code in the top right box of the frame below. The zoom goes in and out. It's not very informative.
If I find the Penyffordd 16 I'm not going to publish any data as Ashley Madison are going to be on the receiving end of a half a billion dollar class action and people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Here's the Daily Post's take on the issue. 184 members in Buckley and 68 in Broughton.

Trouble at Spar - Fighting
Not only do Penyffordd Community Council want to knock it down, there's been fighting.
Best knock it down.....
http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/penyffordd-five-man-fight-police--9906961
One hopes Penyffordd Cllrs are going to back off wanting the Spar closed.
Perhaps they have cunning plans for a new shop for the village somewhere else.
If its still on the table come local elections in 2016 all councillors who voted for its destruction will be outed in the local press and other avenues of communication including social media.
I did have in mind a blog about how peaceful and crime free Penyffordd was.
Some old herbert left their car running this morning and stood in the queue in the Post Office.................................
See if you stop and start it uses extra fuel.
Funny old world !

Carry on crashing
CRASH: Reports of an accident on the A550 between A5104 (Penyffordd Roundabout) and A5118/A5104 (Penymynydd Roundabout), in Flintshire.
Source Daily Post
The number of accidents happening N Wales is horrendous. No one seems to care.
There were two helicopters at one accident the other day.
Why two?
Do they not communicate with one another?

Idiot Driving - 8 mile queue
I feel our country is full of idiots. It's Friday, it's the A55, it's summer holidays. No one is going any where fast.
So why not obey the highway code which asks for vehicles to be able to stop if the car in front has to stop?

Road Drains - Design and Use
The bottom of Penymynydd Rd is near the end of a considerable decline from Penymynydd. A stream that runs down Penymynydd Rd has been "piped". The contents join a stream in the fields after going under Chester Rd.
Also we have the road drains running down Penymynydd Rd
At the Chester Rd / Penymynydd Rd junction we have houses that were built "below" the road level.
So when we have considerable amounts of precipitation the drains cannot cope, drainage comes up through the grids over the road causing a road hazard and flooding gardens of those residences below the road level on Chester Rd.
To this is added lifting manholes from the piped section that cannot cope with the stream content.
There are two issues here.
The stream running down Penymynydd Rd was piped underground with an adequate diameter bore.
This was then modified to a smaller bore near its exit into the stream at a later stage. Who allowed permission for this I don't know. The Utilities are aware of this they have had the camera down the pipes. The engineer I spoke to thought it crazy. ( Its what we have planning for)
I am of the opinion that water backs up the pipe system forcing the lifting of manholes. with 1000's of gallons flowing onto the road.
The road drains running down Penymynydd Rd cannot cope with heavy downpours.
Too much development allowed up Penymynydd Rd without adequate drainage?
It has not been spelt out to me in so many words but I get the impression that I am considered the blame for this issue. You see its the traffic calming causing the flooding.
It makes the road 9 inches higher but it is still thought of as the cause. A law of physics some how being bypassed.
My thought is don't build houses at the bottom of large road inclines on land below the road.
At present our road drainage system is at capacity and flowing down the road.
The gardens need it.

View from the Top
In Friday's Flintshire Chronicle there's a photo of a group of school children on the top of Hanson Cement tower. There's a lift to take you up I understand.
Not local children but from somewhere in England.
How about getting local children up there Hanson?
And can we have a panoramic photograph of the village since you seem to be on a PR trail at the moment?

Yesterday you see it now you don't.
The other day I reported about 2 large tanks of trade effluent in the fields off Hawarden Rd. They are no longer there. Strange!
Trade effluent covers such stuff as human sewage, abbattoir fluids, etc which I presume Natural Wales allow spreading on fields under license.

Safe, Proud and Neighbourly
Does that equal where you live?
You're very lucky if it does.
Neighbours are an issue everywhere.
I'd like an expert opinion of people who live around me.
I won't go into detail, its not worth the bother.
Could do a whole page on our terrace row.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/walesews/safe-proud-neighbourly-happiest-place-9798810
Most people in the village seem ok. Those who won't even say hello to you, acknowledge your existence are very sad. Perhaps its as Philip Larkin said in his famous poem " This be the verse"
"Your parents they F you up, they don't mean to but they do"
postscript: Penyffordd is a nice place to live, low crime, low bother, views across the countryside, green fields for miles.

Obnoxious Smells coming to a field near you?
This morning at 8.00am the tanker was filling up the standing tanks that are used to spray effluent across fields.
The fields are on the left hand side going up Hawarden Rd towards the former hospital.
Two big green tanks.
A bit anti social. Not sure of the health benefits either. Still there will be nice green fields next year.

Hanson Cement have a new plant manager
Congratulations David Quick on his promotion to top man at Padeswood
With most fallout having disappeared due to Hanson investment Penyffordd is a much cleaner place.
Can't remember the last time my windscreen had a coat of cement dust. It's a few years.
(It's on the blog somewhere)
Highlights from their Opendoor communication to the village.
1. 5940 days since the last Lost Time Incident.
2. £4m Investment
3. New packing plant costing £2m in construction
4. 29 more people have been recruited
5. Hanson are helping build the *unwanted giant prison at Wrexham
Hanson burns 3 types of fuel at present
1. Coal
2. Meat and Bonemeal ( slaughter house waste)
3. SRF (household and commercial waste**)
**That hides a multitude of contents which includes brake fluid I presume
Hanson is to build a Biodiversity Park on a disused landfill to the west of the plant.
Pity a local school wasn't allowed to design it
County Cllr Cindy Hinds and local Les Hewitt (NFU) represent Penyffordd district at quarterly liason meetings.
* my feelings and I think shared by many, our AM's strangely silent. Last year when I was in the Maelor we had a drug dealer in the ward, you can add prisoners doing time to the list of those you might not want in the next bed. I don't think Wrexham Prison is having murderers, well not to start with :)
