One commenter has asked the above question.
He wonders whether meetings are held in Latin.
Thanks to another commenter who informs that Latin is used as a filler until content is available. ie minutes, agendas, community group details, etc.

I went to school at a time when Dickie Fran taught Latin at Deeside and Hawarden Grammar. Nigel will perhaps remember him.
ReplyDeleteAlso at this time Dr Gaught was headmaster of Deeside Senior High. You senior citizens will remember Dr Gaught who was a past Chairman of Penyffordd Institute.
ReplyDeleteColin, I fully remember Dickie Francis he taught me Latin, he was a hard man. Dr Gaught, headmaster at Hawarden Grammar School arrived on the same day as I arrived, as an 11 year old in 1955, he was not one of my favourite people.
ReplyDeleteIn regard to Dickie Francis, I met his son in Parkgate about 18 months ago, we had a good chat.
Nigel
ReplyDeleteI remember DF by reputation only. Latin far too clever for me.
His son if I remember also a school teacher taught at Sandycroft Primary School in the early 60's.
Dr Gaught, I remember him walking around school with his mortar board on and black gown.
Anyway Nigel Latin is dead easy now. Here is a page off the Penyffordd Community website translated into Latin.
ReplyDeleteTook about three seconds...........
