I occasionally speak to committee member John Martin. One of the big bug bears is running an outdated building of poor insulation. In the Flintshire Chronicle today we have Welsh Minister, our AM Carl Sargeant standing outside Llanasa village hall in a photo opportunity. Llanasa people have secured £135K of funding through the Welsh Assembly Government's Community Facilities and Activities programme (CFAP).
Why is Penyffordd always at the back of the queue or not even in the queue when it comes to available grant money?

ReplyDeleteLlanassa got the grant from the WAG CFAP program, as did the Trelawnyd Memorial Hall of which I am secretary a few years ago,as well as other grants to the final total of £500k that was needed. Through the FLVC village hall meetings it should be possible to set up some sort of self help and liaison between hall management groups that would short circuit the several previous years of wasted effort we put in before we turned ourselves into a lean mean grant machine!

Thanks for the valued input Dave I wil pass your thoughts onto our village hall chairman. There is some effort by councillors on the grant front. Problem is we have far too many "cllrs" who are there to stop others getting on committee. We are currently run by an 85 year old whom every one is scared of. Treuddyn next door have managed to get 600K in the last two years. Cllrs have managed about 10% of that here.
