Dobshill fatal accident further and consequences for Penyffordd children

Alternative Title. Wake up call for Penyffordd Cllrs over village safety.

Quotes below from Cllr David Williams and Cllr Cindy Hinds who has campaigned for local people to have speed limits reduced at Dobshill. Have Penyffordd Community Council ever backed Cindy over this issue?

The facts of the matter is the spot where  the girl was knocked down has a very high accident rate. There are accidents at this exact location on a regular basis.

In my campaign for  against speeding through the middle of our village ( Penyffordd) I have come across plenty of foot dragging by Penyffordd councillors.

I am looked at as something of an oddball for wanting to live in a village rather than a speedy unpoliced short cut for to Airbus, A55 and Broughton Retail Park. Perhaps this fatality will convince local councillors that village safety is of importance.

Living here I see young children cycling across Chester Rd with no thought for their own safety. At the end of the day Tom there is more than being "seen to do the right thing" you actually have to do it!

You lot have sat there for the last 5 years ignoring speeding through the village for the best part. No pushing of North Wales Police or Gosafe. No pushing for a 20 mph zone through the middle of the village. If you had anything about you you would have demanded data held by Flintshire County Council on speeding through the village. You're function is to prevent accidents rather than quote after events.

It should be noted that Mark Tami MP and Carl Sargeant AM have consistently sat on their hands with regards safety on Chester Rd, Penyffordd. Politics being part of the reason.

The "big picture" Carl is that a good percentage of drivers take no notice of children on bikes, horses or old age pensioners. They make no allowances for them whatsover. As Minister of Transport for the Welsh Assembly Government what are you going to do about it? Flintshire County Council ( Neal Cockerton and Cllr Tony Sharps) are currently doing a large foot dragging exercise  over 20 mph zones for Flintshire communities.

One final thought. Cyclists and a percentage of modern drivers are not a good mix the authorities should be banned from encouraging cycling on public highways.
