Penyffordd Social Inclusiveness

When the first batches of the large developments were started FCC held meetings in the village with regards social inclusion.  The Main Penyffordd Facebook is a good way to find out what is going on. Events, crime, local issues.

A local FB group has been set up exclusively for certain streets in the Groves. If you don't live there you cannot join or see. Turns out someone has been knocking on doors trying to relieve residents of money.
Information that is of interest to the whole village but is not available
FCC appear to have been speaking to wrong people.

  1. Presumably it was FCC that agreed to all the houses on the Groves estate being leasehold? Had the properties been built as freehold, we wouldn't have needed a page to discuss our annual maintenance fee in the first place. I'm not aware that anyone else in the village pays towards this fee so fail to see why non residents of the Groves estate need to be on the Facebook page. Our annual maintenance costs are no one else's business.

    2. And now you can get blocked for having a difference of opinion. So it's definitely not about inclusion but control

  2. It's posts like this that will cause a devide. It's extremely childish.
The initial post about a strange person on the groves was shared on there to make sure it wasn't just a harmless person and not to scare people. It was then shared to the penyffordd Facebook site but has to wait to be approved, meaning a delay in information been shared. The groves Facebook page is about leasehold information and maintenance fees if you would like these included in the main penyffordd page then all will be shared!! Anyone is allowed to set up a page on Facebook it is their legal right.

  3. Posts like this are Socially exclusive as well. If people do not know about this blog, then how can they read it? Bit of a contradiction on your part there? Also how can a Facebook page which requires 'authorisation' be socially inclusive? People should be allowed to post and if it does not meet the community Guidlines the people can report and the post removed. The incident was posted in multiple places and the Street life post was wainting to be approved before people could see it potentially causing a delay for people to look for issues. This is just a person who feels like they are not in control and is needs to realise people can do what they want in their private lives.

  4. There is no requirement for anyone to be on social media at all. How do these people not on social media alert the local community and where are borders drawn? For instance, are people in Dobshill required to keep us informed? The single most important thing is that people inform the police if they are concerned. A widespread neighbourhood watch scheme in the area would be useful.

  5. There are people not from the groves on the groves page so don't know what you're getting at???

  6. Suggest looking up the leasehold scandal. There's people on the Groves facing paying out thousands to buy their freehold back just so they can sell their property. Unreasonable leasehold clause costs. Escalating maintenance costs and home owners left with shoddy work. Cause of stress and worry for many. People on the Groves are victims of a massive rip off scheme and the Facebook page is needed to help each other.

  7. Just when you thought everything had calmed down someone else has to stoke the fire.

  8. How ironic that a post about social inclusiveness is actually nothing more than someone causing a divide in the community. The groves Facebook page is a group of neighbours that have a method of communicating to discuss their mutual problems such as issues with Taylor wimpey, leasehold and other maintenance fees.
Anything of concern to the wider community does get posted to the wider village page.
As someone who has only lived in the village 3 years I must admit that the penyffordd page has really upset me on numerous occasions due to people who have lived in the village longer making me feel that I do not belong. And it is that Facebook page that is not remotely inclusive. This blog is absolutely ridiculous and has made me feel like I have gone back in time to high school and petty childish playground issues.

  9. I think there is enough said on here to show the whole piece is just trying to cause divide. I am sure anything that is important to the village the right parties will be notified. I think this whole issue is all about control. Get a grip please
