A Talk with Edwina

Tonight I have had nearly an hour chat with Cllr Edwina Davies. Edwina put me right on a few misconceptions I have on council. In another blog I will put down what I thought and what the actualitee is
as Alan Clark would say.

Congratulation to Cllr Edwina Davies on becoming the new Penyffordd Council Chair.

Edwina informs me that the blog is getting boring. Yes Edwina I agree.

Lets hope Edwina can kick the Penyffordd Council web team up the bum.
Edwina used to play football for the village team.

Agenda and Minutes in a prominent place please Edwina. (and all together)

Lets hope the new clerk will not want to be scribe to the worst council website in UK.

Carry on Crashing

Yet another accident beyond Penyffordd train station towards Pontblyddyn. Someone has ran out of road or has been forced to take evasive action. Hedge flattened on the left near cottage that sits on its own.

Cllr Edwina Davies ( Cllr of the month) brought this issue up two meeting ago. Problem is a radical solution is needed to deal with the muppets. Such as compulsory 20 mph zones at multiple accident spots.

It's not going to happen though. It's as the title suggests...

Edwina says " We are behind the times ! "

Well Edwina that's what you get when you leave an 87 year old conservative (small c) control freak in charge of the village. The only problem with the £300 notes is, is it a one off or one of ongoing payments?

By the way it takes 10 mins to set up a Hotmail or Gmail account for Scribe Nigel. Cost free.
30 mins setup for a blog that will suffice for the council's requirements. Cost free.

Perhaps Clive and David can meet down at headquarters at "The Red".

Big issue at giving the Wine Club 50 quid but we'll spray rate payers money around like there's no tomorrow.

Cllrs Tom Jones and Colin Bithell shoot themselves in the foot

Whilst Chairman Cllr David Williams looks on.

Still on the Tom and Colin theme. Wednesday night was Penyffordd Wine Circle night. I decided to let the society know about the dirty deeds of Penyffordd cllrs over their refusal to give a proper level of grant money as given to the three legged football club the Red Lion Strollers  ( prop Cllr David Williams).

I took along some photocopies of the council minutes. The girls weren't happy, voices were raised. Me, I said nothing.

Tom and Colin can expect a few votes less. Lisa says may be 18 plus family members.

As for Edwina an ex member selling her mates down the river?

Is Cllr Williams the new Penyffordd Machiavelli?

Apologies

An unreserved apology to Cllrs Edwina and Stan Davies for comments made in the link below. I added 2 + 2 and came up with the wrong conclusion. Comments made have been edited out. A lesson for me to learn.

Good Luck Edwina for the weekend

Cllr Edwina Davies is Lady Captain of Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club for 2008. It's Edwina's Lady Captains Day this weekend. Lets hope Edwina has better weather than Birkdale had on Thursday.

To The Penyffordd Community Council meeting

Last month Cllr Colin Bithell and Cllr David Williams had a rant at me whilst under the protection of the meeting. Residents are allowed to watch but can't talk. Colin Bithell had a 20 minute rant after a set up question from Cllr Edwina Davies. My wife had to sit and listen.

So because Chief Superintendent Ruth Purdie of North Wales Police was supposed to be coming along and there was probably going to be further fall out with regards myself I decided to attend.

Cllr David Williams turned up 11 minutes after the meeting had started. David seems to have made a life time of learning of how to turn up late.

To be continued....................

Penyffordd Community Council 2008

Click above to read

Cllr Edwina Davies is Lady Captain of Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club 2008. Edwina stood out on what was perhaps the wettest, coldest day of the year whilst CBM Chris Pullen tried to educate our speeding public. Part of Tom Jones' block vote?

Joe Davies (no relation) failed to get elected. Perhaps the Cllr Tom Jones block vote was moved to Cllr Jane Hopwood?

Cllr Edwina Davies Lady Captain of Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club 2008

Edwina stood with me for 2 hours last week while PC Chris Pullen attempted to calm the speeding hordes. Edwina informs me that she played competitive football up to the age of 40.
Edwina is the lady in pink on the right, second row.
No sign of a county councillor yet. They think little about village centre environment.

Another two sessions on the speed gun

A big thank you to Cllr Edwina Davies for standing in the cold with PC Chris Pullen and myself. Chris on the speed gun. This morning, a bmw got booked. He was doing 40 mph outside my house.
Another male wet himself when he saw Chris pointing the gun at him. Wound the window down and shouted "get a life". Not sure whether he meant me or Chris.
Another male who lived in Penymynydd Rd stopped and said we need to get out side the school as they speed passed his house which is next to the school. This is of course the road with the ineffective speed bumps.
More sessions next week.

A letter sent to Edwina Davies prior to tonights Council Meeting

Edwina Davies CC
Penyffordd

cc. Linda Vidamour, Cindy Hinds, David Williams

Dear Edwina,

I presume there is a Community Council meeting on Wednesday.

As one our most effective councilors may I call upon you to press for the speeding in Chester Rd to be stopped. In The Chronicle last week Sychdyn was mentioned, their Beat Manager has been told to deal with their Rat Run to Shire Hall on the back roads.

Terrace Lane is the perfect place for our Beat manager as the Morning Rat Run cannot accelerate out of the village until they see that Arrive Alive or North Wales Police are not present. A couple of visits between 7.15 and 9.15 am would be enough to stop most of the 100’s who speed past my house each morning causing danger and noise.

I realize that Flintshire Highways are on the case but the Police should enforce our speed limit. He does after all have very little crime in Penyffordd and Higher Kinnerton to deal with.

I also feel the village should have a 20 mph compulsory limit outside The Post Office.

Into the future Warren Hall looks bad for Chester Rd Penyffordd.
Flintshire County Council seem very very keen. I and others on the main roads through Penyffordd, Chester, Corwen and Vounog may have different ideas.

At present we have 1,000,400 cars a year through Chester Rd.

2000 a day speeding.

Will that triple after Warren Hall is developed and the A55 exit finished?

We have a by-pass of sorts that is not very efficient as you will be aware. Flintshire Highways I think are very keen for Chester Rd to remain part of the National Network to Mid Wales along with the by-pass. I feel traffic not visiting Penyffordd should use the By-Pass

Sincerely Colin

ps. I occasionally have a go at The Community council on my Blog. This is because I am frustrated at the slow nature of local government. A current issue is the Notice Board outside The Post Office that wants taking down or repaired. It currently does not make the Community Council look effective.

Pps I have a Penyffordd resident’s objection to Warren Hall in regards to more traffic for Penyffordd in front of me. The objection valid, summarily dismissed by Flintshire County Council. I feel that Flintshire County Council wish to ignore Penyffordd
