I think we should have them in the village
Morning rat run Chester Rd for starters.
Take the time to take part in their questionaire, it only takes a few minutes.

Gosafe having some bother
I've been in correspondence with Penyffordd Community Council of late. I am personally against volunteers from the village getting involved in speed awareness issues. I remember standing with CBM Chris Pullen up Chester Rd. Chris had a speed camera and was pointing it at vehicles coming out of the middle of the village ( a major route to school) One gent stopped his car by Chris and demanded to know why Chris was wasting police time.
There are those that see issues with speeding cars and those that don't.

Gosafe in the locality
Yesterday afternoon between Penyffordd headquarters (Penymynydd roundabout) and Bannel Driving Range. The speed limit is 40 mph. You may wonder where the van could have been situated? Yes you may well wonder......
It wasn't outside Tom's house. It wasn't in the driving range entrance.

A Happy Xmas to all at Gosafe
for helping to make Chester Rd, Penyffordd a safer and quieter place. I 'm sure all Penyffordd Community Councillors, Chester Rd residents and parents of Penyffordd Junior School also share my sentiments

Penyffordd Community Council Meeting June 2012
at 6.30pm start . All are welcome to attend. Flintshire Highways officers will be at the meeting to discuss village traffic management.
WRONG! Highway officials will be at a meeting on 20th June at 6 pm. My mistake. Tx to the person who emailed me pointing this out )
It is hoped that councillors see the benefits of traffic calming to Penyffordd environment. The village being a major short cut for traffic inc HGV between trunk roads to the north and south of the village.
It is hoped our elder statesman ( a school governor) who lives in a cul de sac can be persuaded as to the safety benefits of having a traffic calmed village.
Gosafe are here yet again tonight ( 7 pm )
There will be a public meeting following the community council meeting on the 25th June so that members of the public can raise concerns for and against.
Higher Kinnerton are currently having traffic calming installed.
I am of the opinion that a third of Chester Rd traffic is through traffic.
In 2007 Chester Rd traffic levels were 2800 vehicles a day. A third of that is nearly a 1000. Since then A55 Warren Bank has been constructed making the village a lot more attractive as a short cut many of whom are commercial.
This last month has seen HGV coming through the village at about 60 a day at times.
Chester Rd and other Penyffordd roads have the wires down to measure traffic volume, speed, etc.
This will be the eighth traffic measurement of Chester Rd since 2007.
Today Chester Rd has been the subject to a traffic survey outside the Penyffordd Post Office by a company acting for Flintshire Highways?
They started at 7.00 am and were here all day.

Thank you to Gosafe
For protecting Chester Rd community against danger and noise. This morning's positioning of the van will catch a few. More would be caught if drivers did not warn one another.
My argument being that if serial speeding drivers are caught more quickly they have less chance of killing or seriously injuring people. When you get six points on your license it's wake up time. That's except for the idiots of course.

Gosafe Continuing to protect Welsh Communities( even on a Bank Holiday )
The normal sort of profile for traffic at weekend in the summer is for us to be used as a fast short cut by holiday traffic heading for and coming from Mid Wales.
From an initial career manager at Arrive Alive who wouldn't do his job and wouldn't release traffic data to show he was NOT doing his job we now have a Gosafe team that are excellent.
Please continue protecting our community.
Carl Sargeant AM Minister for Welsh Transport is to be congratulated for turning a joke quango into a real protector of Welsh Communities.
Keyword: Jim Moore.

The Services of Gosafe
A commenter wants Gosafe to service the Vounog. Perhaps one of our councillors will consider getting in touch with Gosafe.
Gosafe have been in Chester Rd this lunch time for an hour. They have also been in Pontblyddyn two days on the run. Yesterday and Today.

Thank you Gosafe
Apparently they have been here last week at 7 am. After 5 years of people continuing to speed through our community I have no sympathy. Scores have been caught.

Defacing of 30 mph signs in Penymynydd
The two 30 mph signs just off Penymynydd roundabout have been sprayed with black paint. One presumes by someone caught speeding by Gosafe on their recent campaign around the village.

Gosafe acting strange?
Apparently they have been seen in Chester Rd last week on two occasions between 6.30 and 7.30 pm. That's in the evening and in the dark.
How about some more attention on the morning rat run Gosafe?
You have the data you know when it happens.
By acting strange I mean doing a proper job.
Still shouldn't complain.
Some local politicians don't mind speeding in the evenings.
They tend to live up cul de sacs, well away from main roads........................
Perhaps we have a new outlook, election approaching.
One where Chester Rd and other roads will be thought of as community centres rather than major short cuts for lorries, Airbus and Broughton Retail Park traffic.
After all we do have a bypass.

Gosafe - Thank you
for your attendance this lunch time. Flintshire communities including Penyffordd deserve not to have traffic hammering through.
Thank you to who ever made it so.
ps. They're still hammering through in the morning at rush hour.

Speeding Update
ps. Gosafe. There are still loads of idiots hammering through the village at going to school time ( and Airbus shift time) ( as you know). There's a lot of motorists still not getting the message.
Can we have you back, same time, same place?

Speed Tales from Chester Rd
Yesterday when Gosafe were here a woman was going up the road at the 30 mph speed limit. Behind her was another woman who did not want to do the speed limit so she started to overtake, foot down to the floor. When she got level with the car she noticed the speed van and put her foot on the brakes. At the same time a vehicle was coming down in the hill.
So in the end she had to accelerate again braking the speed limit to get passed car she was over taking.
You may say Gosafe's fault.
Anyone overtaking up the hill risks a head on any way. She should loose her license for a few months. The irony being she will have most probably avoided a fine because of what she was doing and the way Gosafe setup the camera. I've been in the van for a full demo three years ago.
It is reckoned over 30 vehicles were caught yesterday
They are still hammering up the road today..........................
FWIW I think a warning sign should be put up for two weeks before speed calming is undertaken saying this community no longer tolerates speeding. But there you go its not up to us.
