Villagers have spotted two white pick ups near the Institute field. Children were seen coming off the field then getting into white pickups.

An emergency stop for toilet duties?
Or a fishing trip for a new site to temporarily reside?

The current open gate policy at the Institute may need to be modified.
Maybe very quickly.
This of course will be a PIA for the village residents with regards use of our facility.

Cindy and David are on the case.
Its about time certain actions are no longer tolerated.

VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR 

1. There is a vacancy on the above Council caused by the death of Councillor Colin Bithell.

2. A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if within 14 days (not including Saturdays, Sundays) from the date below, ten electors for the community give notice in writing to the Returning Officer requesting such an election be called.

3. The address of the Returning Officer is County Hall, Mold, Flintshire, CH7 6NR


4. If no such notice is given the Community Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

A Phone Call from Colin Everett Returning Officer for Flintshire

It appears the polling machinery is running well with everything in place.

Colin Bithell has made a complaint. Third one in two elections?

After discussion I have agreed to remove certain comments I have made against other nominee cllrs.
Colin Everett's points fair.
He did also mention that he is encouraged to see healthy debate on issues facing residents

One hopes Colin Bithell when he becomes a Penyffordd Cllr after the elections will champion Chester Rd environment issues. We are after all Colin, a major route to school and short cut for over a 1000 out of village vehicles each day.

(We haven't had the election yet! Ed.)

Apparently there will be further media coverage over polling issues shortly.
It may disappoint but at the moment I'm not on the list.

Colin Everett is coming to town

" Who he" some of you might ask. Colin is the Chief Executive of Flintshire County Council. He is too visit Penyffordd and speak to Penyffordd councillors in the not to distant future.

Saving Flintshire Council money

Get rid of Chief Executive Colin Everett and make Cllr Arnold Woolley Chief Executive as well as Leader of the Council. Pay Arnold an extra £40,000 saving the council and us long suffering ratepayers £100,000 per year.

Postscript: The piece was done "tongue in Cheek". Arnold informs me the cost of extra assistants required far out weighs the current cost of our Chief Executive

Carl Sargeant AM leaves Welsh councils in the dark

Last Thursday Carl Local Government Minister addressed over 300 Welsh local government officers and leaders in Llandudno. The message from Carl was that central government ( read Gordon Brown )  and the bankers have dropped us in the mire. Carl said that local government and ordinary people in the street were expected to get the above out of trouble.

Dark threats were made against any council that refuses to toe the line as decided by the WAG. When finished Carl was very shy and wanted to leave immediately. He was however persuaded to face up to a Q&A session in which he ducked and dodged every question.

Jane Hutt AM Minister for Finance and Budgets then addressed the conference waffling on about hard times, fair share of the burden and protecting the vunerable etc.

The questions that Jane Hutt will not answer are as follows.

1. Does she intend to go for cuts NOW during the current financial year ?
2. Will she defer this years share of the cuts till next year ?
3. How large are the cuts involved ?

Council's need to know now to be able to plan forward instead of being unwilling players of blind man's buff.

Chester Rd Traffic Education

I understand that Howie and Hugh ( our CBM and Safety Officer resp) have been out in Chester Rd this week. Educating the travelling public.

This is most welcome.

It would be most interesting to see traffic volumes and speeds for 2007 and 2010. The credit crunch I feel has made a big change to driving through Chester Rd, Penyffordd.

Speeding continues through Chester Rd Penyffordd

Our previous CBM Chris Pullen and Inspector Alun Oldfield were not interested in speeding through the village whatsoever. A half hearted effort that was quickly dropped. A couple of weeks hammering the speeders with the speed gun and articles in The Leader could have slowed a lot of them down.

I'm writing this as vehicles have been hammering through the village all day. It's less than it has been but still a considerable amount. I think well over a 1000 a day.

Our new CBM Howie Williams has been to the last Penyffordd Community Council meeting. One of the plus points was his suggestion that speed limits be pushed back up the hill. This was a very good suggestion. This however needs backing up with enforcement or an inability of vehicles to fly through the village with verticle platforms introduced.

This seems a long way off with Flintshire County Council's alleged moratorium on speed bumps which they use as an excuse except when they want to use them. They have been applied recently on a stretch of road in Deeside Industrial Estate where speed trials were taking place.

Speeding through Penyffordd however seems acceptable to Flintshire County Council. They have the exact data for traffic but refuse to release it as it is so bad. Nor will they act on it endangering lives and ruining our village environment.

CBM Howie Williams has said he will contact the Arrive Alive and a specialist division of North Wales Police that deal with speeding. I wait along with others in Chester Rd, Penyffordd.

We take pride in where we live, its a pity so few others do.

As you hold data that shows Chester Rd, Penyffordd to have well over

1000 vehicles a day that speed through our village perhaps you might

wish to discuss with Cindy and Linda actions to be taken to stop this daily gross abuse of our village that has its own by-pass.

A visit by Detective Craig Turner of Mold CID

Together with an assistant. This is serious stuff, two detectives!

Chief Executive Colin Everett as Returning Officer has given North Wales Police four names to investigate over Election May 2008 irregularities. My name is on the list as I think Cllr Colin Bithell made a complaint regards my election literature which failed to comply with election law.

My crime being the non disclosure of my publisher on my literature!

When printing my literature I had the forces against me. Since I liked Cllr Colin Bithell's election literature I went around to see his printer. Since I have experience in design I had my literature on a CD ready to roll. What an amateur lot were his printers. After half an hour at the printers I thought it easier to use a photo copier so I went to Mold. Half way through the print run the machine broke down. This needed a visit to Llandudno next day to pick up the rest as time was running out.

The end result being I am told by Detective Craig Turner not to do it again!

I feel an FOIE in the wind................................

A Meeting with Mold CID

Four months after the local elections I am to have a meeting with Mold CID over my election literature. This afternoon I have run it passed Sue, Grabbit and Runne, my lawyers.
The meeting is later on this week.

Its full of good stuff (guff) like this

All fine words but part of another universe, not reality.
A good look through the above shows that your job has very little to do with village environment.This shows in the currect status of Chester Rd Penyffordd which is a noisy rat run for 100's of cars,  lorries and buses. Flintshire County Council website front page gives the impression of a rural county. Underneath environment wise it is rotten to the core in places like Chester Rd Penyffordd. 3000 vehicles a day even though we have a by pass. The place is lawless North Wales Police have given up on speeding traffic and illegal exhausts. They seem rather too close to Airbus corporate wise.
Flintshire Highways are hiding traffic data that shows how crap the place really is.You will be having a challenge in your new position in this third world county. Good luck. I will be in touch when you start in September

A Phone Call from Colin Everett Returning Officer for Flintshire Elections 2008

This is something I have been waiting for. Lisa puts him off whilst we get the rest of our leaflets delivered. I ring Colin back a few hours later.
The problem is not what I think it is going to be but something trivial that needs to be precise.

There is a problem with the wording regards publishing and printing of my electoral leaflet. I have left out the printers or in this case copiers. We changed from using a company in Buckley because their commitment to customers was poor.
Forgot to put copier company in Mold on the literature.
The waters are now calmed I have sent the required data to Colin Everett.
