Mark Isherwood AM

Haven't seen him in the Flintshire Chronicle for ages. Thought he'd died.

Anyway he is alive and well on Twitter.

Mark's website is impressive  perhaps Penyffordd Community Council might take a look.

Just in case you think I'm Conservative, I'll put Labour on shortly

On the presumption that Tom owns the field opposite his farm. I spy a Conservative placard at voting times in the past. Surely not you say he's Independent.

Welsh MP's and AM's have no pride in North Wales

Why is it that every weekend N Wales is used as a race track by bikers with illegal exhausts?

Many 100's of bikers scream along Penyffordd Bypass and many other roads in N Wales.

Carl Sargeant AM, Mark Tami MP and Mark Isherwood AM - guilty. Why do we pay them, they just talk.

The Welsh Assembly Government wants more powers. The above to me proves they are not fit for purpose.

Congratulations to Ruth Purdie

our former village bobby who is now Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire.
Ruth has risen high from humble beginnings.
Previously Ruth was Chief Superintendent for South Flintshire of which Penyffordd was part of until the recent shake up.
Ruth had no interest at all in traffic policing in Chester Rd which was about 2000 vehicles a day in 2007. It would be fair to say that she is not on her own. The list includes
Former Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom*, Chief Constable Mark Polin, Carl Sargeant AM Head of Transport Welsh Assembly Government, Mark Tami MP, Mark Isherwood AM.

* RB managed to do an audit of the village with Penyffordd Cllrs in tow that ignored the 2000 a day speeders. Did any of our cllrs raise the question.............

It may be quiet cllrs on the email front but traffic is still hammering through the village. It does every workday morning and has done for 5 years plus.

MARK ISHERWOOD: HUGE CHALLENGES FOR NORTH WALES POLICE

Mark Isherwood AM explaining the future police cuts required for N Wales. You may think I've turned into a true blue. This is not the case. The blue yellow team are pandering to the speed lobby. I have a letter in the tubes about today's Leader comment on speed cameras. If published it will not go down well. Although the letter could be used to say that things are going to change... I doubt it.

Who says there is not a god

"WAG also failed to convince that the potential harm to wildlife of killing 2,000 badgers outweighed the potential benefits – an estimated 0.3% drop in the annual rate of herd breakdowns."

Well done the law lords.

Kink Daily Post

I know of maybe a dozen badger setts. These creatures keep to themselves.

Is there any political capital in garnering

the support of residents in Flintshire and North Wales with regards speeding through communities and bikers racing through N Wales. There is also the issue of Warren Bank A55 exit which is going to dump loads of extra traffic through the village, What has Mark Tami MP and Carl Sargeant AM done about Warren Bank and Penyffordd? All I hear is silence. And for that matter Mark Isherwood AM.

2. Has anyone in Penyffordd got or had the same condition as Mark Isherwood's daughter
who lives nr Pontybodkin which is in a  different wind and geographic direction to Penyffordd ?

New Government let communities down

No traffic policing and no slow down devices. There is a GATSO near Mark Isherwoods house it is very effective. So what do communities look forward? Just unending speeding.
174 communities in Flintshire want Gosafe help. Currently 14 communities get help.

A Further email from Alun Evans MEP explaining the Workings of the EU

Dear Mr Hughes,
Thanks for your reply.
I am certainly very happy to try to help you on any matters where there is a European dimension and competence. That is indeed my role as an MEP, and I daily take up cases where there is such a European dimension on behalf of Welsh constituents. Issues relating to the noise at your property seem to be matters relating to the actions of the local council and/or Welsh Assembly and so are clearly matters on which AMs and Councillors can assist you. Although you suggest that the EU 'tells us all what to do', this tabloid newspaper claim is not as true as Mr Murdoch would have us all believe. If it were otherwise, there would clearly be no point in having any Welsh local councillors or Assembly members, or even probably any local councils.
The reality is that the European Commission can only exercise powers over the councils or Assembly where that power has been granted to it by the UK national government, and you are certainly my constituent (and that of the other 3 MEPs) on all such matters. But the European Commission cannot just over-ride our national and local government unless it is claimed that the authorities are failing to observe an agreed European law.
I will speak to Mark Isherwood to see if he is able to suggest any way in which I can assist him,- we work very well together on many matters- but I feel that you should not be misled on our powers - even though you may have wished that the EU institutions had such authority to just over-ride your local council.
Yours sincerely,
JONATHAN EVANS MEP (Wales)

BROUGHTON RETAIL PARK’S “GREEN LIGHT” SHOULD CARRY

CEIDWADWYR CYMREIG

Mark Isherwood AM

Assembly Member for North Wales

28 April 2006

RETAIL PARK’S “GREEN LIGHT” SHOULD CARRY

AN AMBER WARNING

“The decision by Flintshire County Councillors to expand Broughton Retail Park risks unacceptable damage to the sustainability of local town centres” said Mark Isherwood, Welsh Conservative Assembly Member for North Wales.

Consultants, Martin Tonks Planning, commissioned by the local authority to review proposals to increase Broughton Retail Park, say development will divert trade from other towns and shops.

Mark added:

“Rather than a green light for developers, this is an amber warning for neighbouring towns where trade could be severely hit.”

This would have a disproportionate impact on older people, lower income households and the disabled, reliant upon local shops for goods, services and a social network.

We are told that up to 1000 jobs could be created, but how many jobs will have to be lost in local businesses, retailers and suppliers to make this happen?

This can only have an adverse impact on transport and car use, just as Flintshire is proposing cuts to bus services and at a time when cuts in greenhouse gases and air pollution are a priority.

Broughton is already saturated and congested with massive and unsustainable developments. New slip roads will not address concerns about increased traffic throughout the surrounding area expressed by Town Councils and local businesses.

Where is evidence of compliance with the Habitats Directive, required prior to planning permission being granted?

Instead of Ghost Town Britain, we must use policy and planning to support and restore sustainable local communities, local economies, local products and services before they become a distant memory.

Flintshire needs an accountable County Council that listens more, talks less, spends better and starts putting the people of Flintshire first.”
