Penyffordd or maybe Hope Guitar Man

I'm stretching the Penyffordd bit its nearer Hope. Its an old oak tree stump that's been turned into a carved statue with a guitar. Will go back and take a proper picture when the light is different.

A warm welcome to our new Beat Manager PC Chris Pullen.

cc. Politicians, Council, Newspapers, The Chief Constable, Police Inspector Mark Pierce

Welcome Chris,

I'm sure you will find Penyffordd and Kinnerton a little quieter than Metropolitan London. Crime in our area is virtually non existent except for a one man crime industry who is retiring for a while. Our new Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been telling your bosses that he is going to get rid of all that red tape. Does that include Wales?
So now perhaps we are going to have time to deal with Chester Road's daily 2000 speeders who abuse our village environment.
regards Colin

Flintshire Council Environment continues to sit on its hands.
Flintshire Highways plans our Traffic Calming but does it include
traffic accelerating out of the village from the centre?

Traffic Calming a la Powys Highways Department

The road between Newtown and Machynlleth. Approaching a village, there numerous red bands across the road. Then the signs for the speed limit with a nice blue Police warning sign saying Police Speed Enforcement Area and red bands across the road at intervals in the zone reminding drivers of the speed limit. I think effective.

Lawless Penyffordd

On Friday in The Chronicle we have Inspector Darren Wareing in charge of Operation Debar2.
Quoted saying " Its about the community seeing us here today and knowing we are working with them to take these people off the road." He urged anyone with information about people driving with no tax, insurance, etc to phone their special number.

Mean while in Chester Rd, Penyffordd on a Sunday afternoon Darren, 100's of drivers have been speeding through our village. They all have E.S.P. and know with a 100% certainty that no Police or Arrive Alive van will be in this village.
North Wales Police and Arrive Alive are failing Penyffordd and North Wales villages.

This week Darren we will have over 10,000 drivers breaking the speed limit in Chester Rd, Penyffordd.

What about our community?
He would most probably say see your own inspector. Just learnt a bit more about North Wales Police Hierarchy.

Kinnerton Main Road 20 mph zone

Kinnerton Village

Kinnerton 20 mph signs. They need red circles instead of black though :) .

Llandullas Rumble Strips

Behind our vehicle is a blind T junction, I think. In the past cars must have come flying down here ( just like Chester Road, Penyffordd). These strips cause much rumble if done at over the speed limit. They look aabout 12 inches wide and 1 inch highwith a square edge.
Charles Hughes Head of Engineering may have a specification sheet for these. The ones at the entrance to Broughton are a token.

Arrive Alive do Public Relations

Hugh Jones the Arrive Alive Safer Roads Officer for Flintshire looks on whilst a villager bends PC Ian Millington's ear over Penyffordd and Penymynydd villagers using the top of Penymynydd Rd, Penymynydd as a short cut. It is an access only route for residents. This means you are on for a £60 fine if caught.
If you dont live in that part of the road you shouldnt be using it. We have a new beat officer starting who may have a different approach to community policing. Penyffordd Comunity Council are pressing for any illegal use to be punished.

Our guests the travellers appear to be leaving

On our way back to Penyffordd this lunchtime we had to dodge through the dogging woods. Lisa has advised me not to do it alone :). We had to because there was a jam outside the Traveller's field entrance. Also there were about 10 traveller's caravans and trucks in the lay by at Dobshill. I think the going must be a bit soft underfoot on the field.

postscript. They have gone after about 4 days. Did not expect that. Of course they have left the field tidy................ They do themselves no favours. Some Professor in The Chronicle arguing a point about a set of traveller's outside Holywell. They appear to be of the static kind as opposed to the mobile kind we have had a visit from

Discarded Take Aways

For my sins I live near a Chinese Takeaway, 2 discarded take aways spilt all over the alley way. We occasionally get this sort of thing. Now who would do such a thing? Our guests in the field next to Mr Joneses' Garage? No of course not.

Also in the Headlines Penyffordd

BREAKING NEWS 9:45am - Blaze at Penyffordd
FIRE crews are fighting a kitchen blaze at a home in Penyffordd.

Just around the corner, didnt hear a thing!

Penymynydd in the Headlines for the wrong reasons

Front page and third page of The Flintshire Leader runs with unsavoury practices in woods by males. Colin Bithell (Cllr) quoted as saying its been an embarrassment for the community for a long time. Residents nearby fear for their children. Quotes by Ellis Davies, Sir William Gladstone's retired game keeper. Full description on how The Internet is used for communication. Police say they are aware and constantly patrol the area.

Well officers, its at shift start and shift end plus end of office hours work. They won't be able to read this as Beat Managers aren't allowed on The Internet or to have proper email addresses. The communication with both The Chief Constable and Beat Managers is through an online form that wants name, address, age and gender. Its semi automated after the 1st time but still a pain. Its impossible to do group emails that everyone enjoys so much :) .

Airbus' speeding employees

I'm wondering how Airbus are dealing with my letter about their employees speeding through the village. Has is it been filed in the bin? Wish I had an email address for them. A google search reveals you can email from Airbus aircraft. The head of Carphone Warehouse has an email address.
