Bin News

Flintshire County Council have been around Penyffordd district today taking photos of over flowing bins. Not enough recycling taking place apparently.

I think households get a written warning and if ignored a fine.

I can see families struggling with this.

Not sure if this is the same issue as Penyffordd but they have gained a positive result.

School Time Capsule

https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/18145700.time-capsule-created-ysgol-penyffordd/

I heard recently there was a problem with the time capsule buried in the grounds of the former Penymynydd Rd primary school. No one could remember where it was hidden.................
I'm sure it was just unsubstantiated gossip.

Bus News

The removal of direct bus services continues.
I'm reading that there will no longer be a direct bus to Chester from today.
This of course hits older people who do not have transport.

As a teenager using Crosville to get to school I developed a life long allergy of public transport.

Penyffordd Crime

I think we are relatively unscathed but.................
Things happen.

Tonight The Vounog.
Someone opens a door, dogs rush to door, intruder retreats.

Two night ago someone is escorted from a house in Fammau View by police, a car involved.

Penyffordd Facebook page is the best way of keeping up with local crime.

A creature I have never seen alive

We know where many badger setts are when walking with the dogs. We see the occasional fox.  We leave dog food out for them occasionally. God's creatures.

A New Years Day walk around the secret lake

It's not really a secret lake but not many people in Penyffordd know about it. We accessed it from Stryt Isa. Not much parking, room for about 3 cars near the footpath. You walk over the field, over the official railway crossing to get to the lake. Part of the walk is on FCC footpath, the other part on a permissive footpath courtesy of the owner. Takes about 45 mins to walk around, a bit muddy in places.

Met the owner on the way around. Had a chat about the lake etc.

Also met Klaus Armstrong Braun former county councillor.  Had a chat with Klaus for half an hour or more. He was armed with a camera and binoculars. I asked if he was a twitcher lol. He says no.

He still keeps an interest in environment, in this case the wet lands around the lake.

Klaus of course ruffled a few feathers in the village over footpaths and in many other wards. Telling me about landowners, crossbows and guns lol.

That was the Decade that was 2010 -2020

Penyffordd under attack from Developers
A brand new shiny Primary School that will not supply new local demand.
Most of the old guard have retired from the Community Council.
Modernisation of the Penyffordd Institute in the offing.

FCC seem quite happy with Penyffordd being a secondary trunk road system.
Good planners would keep through traffic to the Penyffordd Bypass
Wrexham BC have 20mph zones everywhere, FCC next to none.

Nationally we have dodged a bullet that would have wrecked the country.

I see leaving the EU as a big plus.

Penyffordd Planning Applications

Please note some applications are for the other Penyffordd.

https://digital.flintshire.gov.uk/FCC_Planning/

You have to put Penyffordd in search box.

I was interested in what was happening over the road down a lane off Chester Rd. 20 ton lorries, mechanised equipment etc. Unless you have a planning number I find searches not of any use.

Just been announced on Facebook Penyffordd that there will be only one polling station open tomorrow. At Penyffordd Youth club opposite the Millstone.

Polling Card says Youth Centre. We have always voted at St Johns School, Penymynydd. There may be quite a few people milling around St John's tomorrow.......

Development Onslaught Continues

https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/18046115.developers-launch-appeal-refusal-proposals-almost-40-new-homes-penyfordd/

Alan's ( Penyffordd Councillor) comment at the bottom of the article which sums up the situation at WAG.

The problem we have is that the Welsh Minister is out of touch with reality. Speaking on ITV recently, she said that people should get involved in the development plan process and stop complaining when there is a housing development in their community! In Penyffordd there were 2 developments (235+85 houses) approved by the Inspectorate in the last local plan in 2011, then we had 40 more, followed by 186, followed by 32 - all refused by Flintshire and approved on Appeal. In all of these there was strong village representation. The village infrastructure is broken, the last 186 houses haven't worked out what to do with their drains yet, there is no water pressure in half the village, drains overflow, the internet is practically stopped at times. There is a Local Plan in consultation and it is an absolutely pointless process as long as appeals like this are allowed to get nodded through. It is time the Welsh Government took the time to REVIEW the consequences of decisions already made BEFORE allowing another appeal to be approved. But the Minister won't meet with us at Penyffordd Community Council - she suggested we make comments via a questionnaire instead. Something is very wrong with the system and the people in charge of it.

Lest We Forget

In remembrance of the fallen.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.
Our nation salutes you all.

At last a Flintshire County Councillor raises issues about Wrexham Maelor.

Seems I got off lightly.

Illegal Car Parking Blitz continues

Reports last night on Facebook of bookings for illegal parking. This morning the parking man has booked a white van that's been parking opposite the cafe on double yellow lines.

Meanwhile Chester Rd community has a severe shortage of parking options thanks to the laying down of double yellow lines and the banning of parking on Penyffordd Institute and Penyffordd British Legion carparks. Our community spirit has gone negative.

postscript. White van got two parking tickets. It has now been moved up Chester Rd and now becomes part of traffic calming measures.

Back to the Stone Age

So yesterday the electricity went off at about 4.15pm. No tea cooked, mobile phone battery on its last legs. Had forgotten how many things I do that involve electricity.
Phone wifey to check Facebook Penyffordd for news, me no social media on phone.

Came back on 7.00 ish. Well done Utilities.

Note to self. Find portable gas cooking equipment.
Congratulates self for having a wood burner that doesn't need electricity.

Taxpayers to be asked whether they’d support reduction in bin collections.

Penymynydd Roundabout at 8.50 am

Not fit for purpose and hasn't been for a long time. Somewhere I always avoid first thing. Hope junction is also a right PIA that is hard to avoid.

Flintshire LDP Consultation

http://www.deeside.com/local-development-plan-consultation-set-to-launch-on-flintshire-blueprint-for-7000-new-homes/

The LDP will focus on delivering sustainable development in the County for a 15 year period 2015 to 2030

Possible 300 homes at Warren Hall that will nearly join Penymynydd to Broughton.
Buckley to be expanded to near Penymynydd.

There must be a reason.... if you look at all the red on the Deeside.com map then look at FCC map, nothing showing. Buckley looks to be doubling in size on the Deeside map.

A bad mix

1. 3 young girls on scooters on a narrow path aged 5 to 8. Hawarden Rd opposite the milly.

2. A driver behind me who seemed oblivious to the potential of the last young girl loosing control of scooter (she did).

3. A council who are content for the village to have clean roads for through traffic.

As an aside we have young boys hurting down hill passed our house on the path on scooters with no brakes at the 20+ mph

My hope is I'm not around to witness events.

I see Broughton have compulsory 20 mph zones.

Trouble across the fields

https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/mum-threatens-take-daughter-out-16941834

We seem to have spawned a generation of school teachers that want to save the world. I see loads of young people on the likes of Twitter that do not have a clue. A lot of people do not know this but vegan diets are not good.

Vegetarian diets that include dairy and eggs are another matter.

Perhaps best teachers show children how to think and not what to think.

Flintshire Council the other day complaining they have a couple million pound shortfall yet waste money on climate change brain washing.

Bet they are big on diversity as well.

Penyffordd Wine Circle

Is no more.
Formally wound up last Saturday

There used to be a time when the Wine Circle would go to France visiting wine regions.
We were members for over 20 yrs.

I used to get the Wine Circle to apply to Penyffordd Council for grants that were available every year to groups within the village.

Every year knocked back by Tom. I do not think any other groups were refused money. I think it had something to do with me being a member.

Sad that no other councillor ever objected.

Comments are open if I am wrong.

Chester Revenue Collecting

If you go to Chester in your car its best to avoid bus lanes which are now fitted with ANPR.
Camera takes your picture and you are sent a fine in the post. £30 or £60.

Over 2000 people have been caught so far.

To Hartsheath

To the north of Penyffordd district we have the Gladstone Estate. To the south we have Hartsheath. Spent a very pleasant afternoon there today. We were shown around many rooms that still feel as though its 18th century. Our tour guide had a very thorough knowledge of his ancestors. Quite a fascinating day. We were also allowed to tour the gardens which are extensive.

New primary school, new term, new issues.

A bit more peaceful in Chester Rd.  Parents parking cars at the new school causing issues. One resident asked some children's parents if they would stand aside so she could drive car out and go to work. Received a mouthful for her trouble.

Front bumpers tend to help plus dashcam going to show idiots blocking drive.
Also helps with ID.

One hopes school authorities have got this parent marked for ASB.

Parking.

Do you park on paths, double yellows or single yellows?

I have someone who parks on the big path outside my house. I've told him he'll get himself booked but to no avail.

It's Saturday afternoon, there's a young lady traffic warden who has just put parking tickets on 6 cars in Hope and Caergwrle.

More Planning News

https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/17870395.plans-build-almost-40-new-homes-penyffordd-resubmitted-despite-previously-thrown/

Speaking at September’s meeting, Penyffordd councillor Cindy Hinds said the houses being put forward at Vounog Hill did not meet the needs of people living in the area. She said: “Our village has had enough building to last a lifetime. “If you are building any more, people are asking for reasonable, rentable accommodation, something affordable they can buy and some bungalows, which are essential. “We as a county council should be making sure this happens. We are in our own buildings, but not in private developments. “There is not one bungalow on the Vounog site or any other site which has been passed by the authority or Welsh Government.”---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have read in previous post what Andrew Farrow has to say one might wonder where this is going apart from in the bin.

Penyffordd Planning Matters

http://www.deeside.com/plans-for-36-retirement-apartments-in-penyffordd-look-set-to-be-rejected-again/

Penyffordd councillor David Williams said: “The ward has accepted over and above the required housing allocation under the life of the developing local development plan.

“These approvals have already resulted in approximately 30 per cent growth of the village.

“The current application is for retirement homes that may appear appropriate, but there is no binding assurance that this will actually happen.

“The road infrastructure of the village is inadequate to accept further development and the proposed site access will add to the dangers in this location.”

The proposals will be decided at a meeting being held at County Hall in Mold next Wednesday.

Village Safety - Flintshire County Council are hopeless

http://www.deeside.com/community-leaders-voice-serious-concerns-over-safety-of-children-walking-to-new-flintshire-school/

Most Wrexham BC communities now have compulsory 20 mph zones

I think head of FCC Streetscene a waste of space.

Question. Why are Gosafe only operating outside Cllr David Williams' house? That's a question to Penyffordd Community Council.

Its just a matter of time till some idiot knocks someone over.
